Fundraiser for Jocelyn
Together, we rise to support a wife, mother, sister, beloved member of our family and her Church community.
Our dear Jocelyn, who lovingly cared for our family (and many others!), as well as touched the lives of so many in her Church community, suffered a severe stroke one month ago, causing permanent damage to the left side of her brain (responsible for language, logic, analytical thinking, and controlling the right side of the body). After being in a coma for about two weeks, Jocelyn is now in a “minimally conscious” state.
She is currently receiving medical treatment at Tung Wah Hospital in Hong Kong, scheduled until February 2026 (the expiry date of her employment contract). After which, the path forward is still unclear. All we know is that Jocelyn will be unable to remain in Hong Kong after February next year, which means she will (somehow?) have to be repatriated back to the Philippines. It is still unknown what her condition will be at that point in time.
Like many Filipino Overseas Foreign Workers (OFW), Jocelyn was the main income provider for her family in the Philippines. The funds raised will support her urgent medical care, and help her husband, Gabriel, and their daughter, Angel-Love (12 years old), during this time of deep uncertainty.
About Jocelyn
Jocelyn (52 years old) is a devoted mother, loyal wife, and the most hardworking nanny who has given her love, blood, sweat and tears to care for others´ children like her own and support families (like mine) for years. Stubborn as hell - she´s most of all the epitome of Filipino spirit: loyal, resilient, and full of faith. Like many Filipino Overseas Foreign Workers (OFW), Jocelyn was the main income provider for her family in the Philippines. After spending decades in service of others, she now needs our help to show up for her in the most compassionate way possible.
The Situation
& Urgent Need
Around the 19th of October, Jocelyn suffered a severe stroke that left her in a coma for about a week, causing permanent damage to the left side of her brain. Her recovery will likely be long and costly, involving extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation. As she was the sole income provider, her inability to work has put her family in an extremely vulnerable position. Support is urgently needed to assist with:
Medical expenses and therapies
Basic needs for her husband and daughter
Long-term rehabilitation (if/when) she regains consciousness
My mom, Cinty (based in Manila), is acting as the main point of contact between all of us here (around the world) and Jocelyn´s family and friends in Hong Kong and the Philippines. When I asked how best we can support, this was her response…
“I think we need to think of sustaining the family - in whatever shape or form. For Jocelyn - when they take her back, it would be for her meds (like her food in the form of liquids, and for high blood pressure) to keep her alive. Maybe if there is some rehab in the province? This will have to be a “wait and see”. But more long term, it's for Angel Love. Gabriel has a small job in the province, and he is a farmer, so I think he will be ok, but it is Angel Love that would need most help since she is still young…”
HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED
Women supporting women
"When women support each other, incredible things happen."
Jocelyn has been the champion of her family and, for many years, an integral part of ours. In many cultures — especially that of the Philippines — women are often the unsung heroes, the steady pillars and silent strength that hold everything together.
Today, we call on the power of women supporting women, sisters supporting a sister, to help lift Jocelyn and her family during their greatest need.
To my global circle of women — on and off the mat — as well as the wider community of feminine leaders: may we come together in compassion, knowing that when we support one, we support the entire web of connection around her.

A Message to the Yoga
& Conscious Community
In yoga, we learn that we are all connected — that healing happens when we learn to harness our prana, our life force energy, and use it for good. We also know that karma is conscious action — and every action carries energy into the future. What we choose today becomes tomorrow’s reality. When we act from presence and compassion, we create ripples of healing not only for ourselves, but for all beings.
Jocelyn has spent the majority of her life being in service to others, making everyone else´s life easier but her own. By contributing, you become part of her healing journey and help support her family as they walk through one of life’s most difficult chapters. May this act of giving be a living example of seva (selfless service) and ahimsa (compassion).
